Grolschbusters Special
I have known The Grolschbusters for many years, and to my opinion this is one of the best punk rock bands in the Netherlands.
It is a shame that such an original punk rock band from Gelderland (The Netherlands) has in fact never reached the major festivals in Europe.
There are parallels with the Ramones, the Grolschbusters also achieved only minor commercial success. Their energetic punk makes you think back to the '70s and '80s. I would like to congratulate them on their 20th anniversary, and I hope we can enjoy them for many years to come.
Gabba Hey Makes Us Wanna Go !!!
With 20 years down the meter, The Grolschbusters push the pedal down even harder! The band from the east of The Netherlands started out as a Ramones coverband but have proven themselves extensively with their own material eversince. 4 Albums filled with their own barbed punk/rock songs and a fifth CD on the way due 2010. De band toured Spain and supported dutch punkband De Heideroosjes on several occasions and even Marky Ramone in both Belgium and Holland. The Grolschbusters can be seen on a regular base on festivals in Holland and Belgium.
As the name implies, The Grolschbusters have a vast array of drinking songs on stock, but just as easily political and philosophical themes are dealt with. This is done on an energetic foundation of drums and guitars that will take you right back to punk's glory days, without sounding out-dated for a second. Add to this the folk-sound of the band's accordion-player, and you have the unique Grolschbusters sound.
In 2009 lead-singer Nils left the band after 16 years. What would have been a death-blow to another, was a revival to this band. With a new experienced frontman a fresh load of adrenalin is pumping through the Grolschbusters' veins. More than ever the Grolschbusters vouch for an energetic live-show with a perfect mix of punk, folk and rock'n'roll. Or as they like to put it: Rock'n'roll Asshole!
On December 19 the Grolschbusters celebrate their 20th anniversary at the pub The Swan in Hengelo Gld (the Netherlands). They wanted to tackle small and it failed miserably. There will be at the "Beat The Boktor Fest" 10 bands playing from the Netherlands and Belgium!
The first two names are already known: shitt Happens will open the festival under the motto "Let there be rockjes' their own spin on familiar rock songs. also, the original line in Grolschbusters occur with Edwin, Bert, Robby and Albert-Jan even band mascot Pinhead (aka Ronald) will again make his appearance.
